Achievements
Serving on Beaumont City Council since 2018 has been an honour. While I’m not one to rest on past achievements alone, here’s an idea of what I’ve been able to do and why I’ll be able to continue to deliver as a city councillor.
Why Vote for Steve?
Engaged and prepared
Would you believe that being an engaged and prepared councillor is in fact a differentiator? Crazy hey?!? You’ll find me researching upcoming issues and topics BEFORE meetings. This goes well beyond reading agenda packages. You’ll also find me leading discussions at meetings because I am prepared for them!
Available
You’ll find me at community events. You’ll find me meeting with residents/businesses and local groups. You’ll find me looking into novel ideas that people bring my way. You’ll find me finding solutions to problems and concerns that people bring my way. My phone is always on, and I’ll find time for you!
Values RELATIONSHIPS
As a councillor, there is a way to make noise and a way to get things done. I understand the value of relationships and I am committed to creating and maintaining them between council members, administration, our regional neighbors, and the community. Respect and trust are earned.
Steve gets things done.
I’ve been a central piece of a lot of the great work this past council has completed. I want to keep the momentum going next term, Let’s do it!
Some important highlights include:

Partnership solidified with Covenant Health, supporting the future of healthcare in Beaumont

Steve listens and takes action.
I listen to learn, not to respond. Concerns and problems in a community come in all shapes and sizes. Subsequently, so do the solutions to those problems! I have a track-record for making things happen and I’ll continue to do so if re-elected.
Here are just a few examples:
Challenge:
The number and density of properties with additional dwelling units (up to 3+1) were causing concern and parking issues in parts of our community.
Solution:
I pushed council and administration on this issue the entire term, through the 2022 By-Election. Then in January 2024 council motioned to move the potential for ADU’s from 3 + 1, to 1+1.
Now - only 1 additional dewelling unit is allowed in Beaumont, the way it used to be!
Also - minimum parking requiremrents state that dedicated parking must be provided for each dwelling unit. Boom.
Challenge:
Many crosswalks in the community remained unpainted and not upgraded.
Solution:
Advocated for and supported a multi-year effort to paint and repaint, as well as upgrade (buttons and lights) several crosswalks throughout the community.
Challenge:
Not enough benches and garbage cans within our community gathering areas.
Solution:
Budget 2025 allocated $100,000 to continue to improve access to these items within the community.
Challenge:
Builders and Developers working in Beaumont have been disregarding community Bylaws, with little administrative oversight and enforcement available.
Solution:
Budget 2025 allocated for a dedicated position (Development Compliance Officer) on the Planning and Development team.
Challenge:
Residents have been feeling disconnected from the on-going, often time-delayed, community conversation around growth, density, zoming and the assoicated parking alloactions.
Solution:
I motioned for the creation of Beaumont’s first “Community Growth Committee” and ensured the conversation around funding this committee will be a part of Budget 2026 Deliberations.
Challenge:
Identified the need for a cenotaph in Beaumont.
Solution:
Continued to work with council and administration to make this come to life. The cenotaph project siting and design is complete. Watch for construction in 2026!
